If you are familiar with the term functional fashion, then Interlude the Artist and Daniel Adetona will not be strange names to you especially within the last three years or so. The two have redefined what it means to be  designers and visual artists with avant-garde, multi purpose designs for every day fashion accessories. The two creatives at the helm of prayer studios continue their take over of the fashion world this time with their very first ever  runway in London, to showcase their latest collection. Fun fact, the footwears for the runway are all from the classic British footwear brand, Doc Martens- that’s what’s up!

Before the runway went live, I had a small chat with the creative director of Prayer studios, Interlude to discuss the runway, inspirations behind it and the special superstar doing vocals on the runway, hint: he stubborn!

(p.s this interview has been edited for clarity sake)

CHIKI: Can we get  a sneak peak of what we should expecting from the runway

INTERLUDE : Greatness , Idon’t think that’s cocky to say everyone should expect greatness

CHIKI: How  has the process been like from start to finish?

INTERLUDE: Being  my first runway everything was hectic from the meetings with doc to commissioning artists and producers to casting models its all been quite the experience that I’m grateful for really

CHIKI: Where there nervous moments and whats been the craziest take away from all of  this

INTERLUDE: There where  a lot of nervous moments but id say the most nerve racking was wondering if the Victony vocals would come on time and  my biggest takeaway is that nothing is impossible!

CHIKI: So why Victony? And was there any story to the collaboration

Interlude: With the theme of the runway being medieval era, Victony was naturally the first artist that came to mind because his whole stubborn era was heavily knight inspired and he’s really  amazing artist.

CHIKI: You’ve taken the industrial fashion up a notch or two where do you see the scene in naij and uk

INTERLUDE: I was talking to Daniel the other day about how the fashion scene in nigeria is blossoming every day i see a new designer doing it harder than ever. It’s so refreshing doing designs that don’t feel like money grab!

CHIKI : Was there a playlist you and the team listened to while working on the project and if there was can we have the best 5

INTERLUDE: Not necessarily a playlist but there were songs that i always played when we were working ask the team I’ve been blasting Zaylevelten the last month

CHIKI: Tenski, no be lie… Is  there a name for the collection? And what inspired it

INTERLUDE: It is called the Crusader SS26  collection, it is inspired by the enduring spirit and visual language of medieval knights, we want to reimagine chivalry, armor and the transformative journey of the crusader in these fits.

CHIKI: That’s really dope and cool and I wish you the very best with this and more to come. Thank you for your time man Good luck

INTERLUDE: Thanks
